1. I am in the Electronic Engineering program. More specifically, in the telecommunications sub category. The E.E program involves learning things such as designing electrical circuits, building electronic devices, and installing equipment.
2. Anecdotes:
- I found a video which I think is interesting because it is related to the topic that I want to write about. In the video, an autonomous vehicle is pulled over by a puzzled police officer. https://youtu.be/ivLmUi43vyw?t=340.
- Should self driving cars belong on our roads?
- Man will always be better than machine.
3. I want to write about this topic because I actually find this to be an interesting piece of modern technology. I’m also studying in a closely related program and could see myself working in the same field one day.
4. I would like to learn more about autonomous vehicles themselves. They seem like such a highly advanced piece of modern technology that a majority of people, including myself, have almost no idea on how they work.
5. It makes me feel excited for the future of our world. I could see it as being a turning point in history as it is such a great deal. I like to think of it as the moon landing of cars. It is uplifting to know that you will be a witness to this new era and will be able to pass the tales on to the future generations.
6. I think my article may be either a Trend or a How It Works article.
The reason why I think that it might possibly be a Trend is because self driving cars are becoming more and more popular by the day. Many car companies are trying to get a piece of the action by producing their own.
As for the How It Works, It is because I am genuinely curious about what exactly makes a car “smart” or how does a car manage to drive itself without a driver. How is it capable of doing everything the same way a human would?
7. My audience will be the average Joe; the person who has absolutely no idea on the science and engineering that takes place in order for a car to be autonomous.
8. I want to inform my audience on how cars can be built to be smart and driverless. I hope to educate them about how these vehicles function and “think”.
9. My article could appear in:
https://www.entrepreneur.com/article/334995
10. In my article, I plan to go in detail about the new fad that is autonomous (Also known as self driving car) vehicles. My article will go in depth about a few different categories. It would start by informing the reader about the engineering, science, and math that takes place behind the scenes in order for a car to be autonomous. It would explain the internal software such as computers and chips, and also the hardware of the car itself.
In addition, it will describe the ethical and moral aspects that an autonomous car and its user could face. For instance, would a self-driving car sacrifice its passengers in order to save a pedestrian during an impending car crash? Other topics could include who would face the consequences in cases like these. Is it the drivers fault or the manufacturer? (Still unsure if I want to do this part or not)
Finally, it would go in detail and describe whether or not these autonomous vehicles have a place on our roads. This will explore sub-topics such as the safety of a driverless car, if they will save or endanger lives, and when we can expect a fully autonomous car.
This looks great. This topic is interesting, original, and very relevant to our time and place. I’ve never had a student write about self-driving cars before, and I’ve read a lot, a lot of these feature stories. To come across a completely new topic, and one that seems so full of potential is very exciting for me. Your brainstorm is really great. This seems like the beginning of a first draft already. Your voice and writing style are excellent, and very appropriate to the genre we’re working in. I also really like the moon landing analogy. Seems like you’re quite advanced in your thinking about this. You’re in excellent shape to move forward with the next stage in this project.
TOPIC APPROVED.
